Christian Education for Children

It is our goal at First Congregational United Church of Christ to provide opportunities for persons of all ages and at all points of their faith journeys to ask questions about their faith and grow and strengthen their relationship with God. We grow as we ask, explore and reflect on questions.  Children of all ages are important to us.

Sundays, 9:15 – 10:15am

Children, Kndg – Grade 7...Witness to God's Presence
The story of God's presence with us starts with Genesis and ends with the Church.  The Bible is full of characters that witness the very existence of God in their lives and pass that experience on to future generations.  The acknowledgment that God exists and is present in our lives is a primary cornerstone of our Judeo-Christian faith.  To know, feel, sense and experience God in our own personal and corporate lives is a continuing witness to that existence. We are called to share that witness because our God is an awesome God.
On Sundays, we utilize the Rotation Workshop method, presenting 4 different workshops about each story, with students rotating through the centers, one each week. This model of education offers a variety of opportunities for adults to make both short and long term commitments. Workshop leaders offers teach from their strengths, be it computers, cooking or crafting.

Preschool, age 2 and older meet each week in the preschool “tent” room at the top of the stairs. Their lessons will closely follow what the older children are studying.

Infants and toddlers have wonderful care under the supervision of our paid staff person not only during church school and worship; care is often arranged during any activity a parent of grandparent might want to participate in.  Contact alairew@msn.com be sure this is arranged.

Weekday activities Wednesday evening comes Alive! for children in  Kindergarten – grade 4, Sept - Nov, Jan-March. At 5:45, students come and prepare their own supper, then learn about discipleship through drama, arts and crafts, games and activities. Service projects are a regular part of this group, as well.
